40th Anniversary of TMI Accident - Panel Discussion, Exhibit & Book Signing at John Harris-Simon Cameron Mansion
For area residents of a certain age, March 29, 1979, is a "Where were you when you heard...?" kind of day. The Historical Society of Dauphin County will host a panel discussion, exhibit, and book signing commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the nuclear accident at Three Mile Island.
Highlighting the event will be a panel discussion coordinated by Three Mile Island Alert featuring journalist R.W. Swift and nuclear engineer, and expert witness in the investigation of TMI, Arnie Gunderson.
The event will also feature the opening of an exhibit jointly curated by HSDC and TMI Alert. The exhibit will include photographs from the society's Allied Pix collection, samples of mutated plants from the Mary Stamos Collection, and various Three Mile Island ephemera including publications, buttons, posters, t-shirts, and other memorabilia.
The event will coincide with the release of "Three Mile Island", authored by HSDC president Erik V. Fasick. The book features over 200 images sourced from the Allied Pix Collection which focus on the nuclear accident along with the protests and clean-up efforts that followed. A limited signed and numbered edition of 250 copies of the volume, available exclusively through HSDC, will be made available for purchase.
