The father and son ensemble, founded in 1989, has a varied musical background. Richard Amoroso, Sr. was a member and solo cellist with the Air Force Band, performing across the country before earning music degrees in college. He has performed with Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr. and toured with Burt Bacharach and Lou Rawls. He has played with many professional orchestras, is a sought-after recitalist in the Philadelphia area, and has substituted with the world-famous Philadelphia Orchestra.

Richard Amoroso, Jr. has been a member of the Philadelphia Orchestra since 1998. He has played violin at Carnegie Hall and with the Philly Pops Orchestra, many local orchestras in the Philadelphia area, and in the Philadelphia Orchestra’s chamber music and family concerts. He has also performed abroad, in Buenos Aires, Macau, and Lyon, France. Interestingly, he plays a violin made in 1765 by Italian maker Nicolai Gagliano.

Following the concert, the Arts on the Square Gallery will be open free of charge. Faces and Places, the current exhibition by two Harrisburg artists, includes portraits by Mindy Deardorff and photography by Sherryl Heberling.

A donation of $15 is suggested to benefit Arts on the Square and its year-long series of musical and fine arts events. You may also join Friends of Arts on the Square at www.marketsquarechurch.org/patrons.

Complimentary parking is provided in the adjacent Market Square Garage.
