This October, the Harrisburg Book Festival returns for its 12th year!
Proudly presented by the Midtown Scholar Bookstore from October 9th-13th, the Harrisburg Book Festival celebrates the written word and its power to inspire, provoke, and delight. Featuring an outdoor tent sale, award-winning authors, and children’s day programming, the Harrisburg Book Festival promotes a culture of reading and community in the heart of Pennsylvania’s state capital — all while surrounded by thousands of books at one of the nation’s leading independent bookstores.

OUTDOOR TENT SALE
Our most popular annual event is back — with over 30,000 used books priced at $1, $2, and $3. The book sale will take place on Verbeke Street in front of the Broad Street Market, adjacent to the bookstore, from Wednesday, October 9th through Sunday, October 13th. This year’s sale will feature bargain books and hidden gems in fiction, history, politics, art, children’s, poetry, photojournalism, biography, sports, and much, much more. Rain or shine, we'll see you there!
CHILDREN’S DAY
Children’s Day at the Harrisburg Book Festival is back and better than ever! On Saturday, October 12th, visit the Midtown Scholar Bookstore for an afternoon of family-friendly programming. Featuring author signings, story time sessions, live illustration demonstrations, face-painting, arts & crafts, and our beloved bookstore scavenger hunt (with exciting prizes!), they’ll be something for the whole family in Harrisburg!
