Ice & Fire Festival (March 2)

The City of Harrisburg presents Ice & Fire Festival on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 11am-7pm. This free event will feature 50+ large and small ice sculptures, an ice slide, fire dancers, live ice carving, fire pits and smores, an artist market, performances by local school and community groups, kids activities, food trucks, vendors, a cocktail/coffee/cocoa crawl and more. Ice sculptures will be along the Downtown street festival path on North 2^nd Street as well as City Island, Midtown, Italian Lake, Shipoke, & Reservoir Park. The sculptures will be illuminated starting at 5:30pm.

Entertainment

Fire Dancers

Watch performers from Skylark Circus as they entertain with a series of fire dancing performances at 5:30pm & 7pm on March 4.

Live Stage

Enjoy dance, instrumental, and vocal performances by youth and community groups from across the region at the UPMC Stage from 11am-7pm on March 2. The fire dancers will also perform at the stage. A complete schedule of performances will be included in the event guide.

Activities for Everyone

50+ Ice Sculptures

More than 50 ice sculptures will be on display throughout the City on March 2 starting at 11am! They will be illuminated starting at 5:30 pm. Be sure to participate in the scavenger hunt for the chance to win a prize basket filled with gift cards and other goodies from local businesses.

Giant Ice Slide

Attendees of all ages can take a fun and free ride on the 30-ft ice slide throughout the festival on March 2 from 11am-7pm. Kid on Ice Slide

Fire Pits & Smores

200 free smores kits will be distributed at the start of each hour of the festival from 11am-7pm on March 2.

Ice Skating Rink

Kids and adults alike can enjoy the ice rink. Skate rentals will be available and FREE!

Ice & Fire Smore

Artist Market

Shop a variety of handcrafted items from local makers such as pottery, wire sculptures, clothing, jewelry, illustrations, candles and more! Artisans will be inside and outside of the City Government Center from 11am-7pm on March 2. The HBG Flea will also be taking place at Strawberry Square from 10am-4pm to shop even more handcrafted wares.

Live Ice Carvings

Watch as one of the talented ice carvers from Ice Concepts brings an ice sculpture to life along the festival route on 2nd Street.

Horse Carriage Rides

Enjoy carriage rides around the City, including the Capitol building! Reserve ahead by calling or texting Traci at 717-448-8464. Walk-ups will also be accepted.

Food Trucks

Enjoy a variety of delicious bites from 15+ food trucks, including stuffed waffles, noodles, pretzels, crab cakes, tacos and more.

Ice and Fire Themed Drink Specials

Participating businesses throughout the City will be offering ice and fire themed drink specials that are $7 or less. A list of participating businesses and their drink is included in the event guide and map.

Parking

Downtown – Street parking is free after 5pm on Saturday in the designated Downtown area (see map here) and free all day on Sunday. Get 4 hours of free Downtown street parking using the code LUVHBG on the Parkmobile app. A discounted $10 daily rate is available at the Market Square Garage courtesy of Park Harrisburg on March 2. The Walnut Street and Chestnut Street garages will also be available (standard rates apply).

City Island – Free parking is available.

Midtown – Free parking at the Greenworks Development parking lots #2 and #4 at Reily and Logan St. Free 2 hour parking in the parking lots at Fulton and Verbeke St. Metered street parking is available.

Italian Lake – Street parking is available

Reservoir Park – Free parking in the parking lot off of Reservoir Dr.

Shipoke – Metered street parking available.
