There’s so much to explore with young kids! In downtown Harrisburg, you’ll find the hands-on fun of Whitaker Center and the kid-centered entertainment of the Popcorn Hat Players Children’s Theatre. At The State Museum of Pennsylvania, visit the Curiosity Connection, their top kid-friendly attraction, or stop by the Planetarium.
If you you enjoy getting outdoors, even in the winter, you can enjoy the crisp air around the Susquehanna river from a carriage, or trolley ride on City Island. Fort Hunter Mansion has Holiday and winter events for the whole family, and the State Capitol decorates for the holidays and offers free daily tours.
Harrisburg features many engaging and entertaining options for families with teens, too! If you’ve never been, you have to check out our beautiful State Capitol building during one of the many daily 30-minute guided tours. This “palace of art” and National Historic Landmark features Pennsylvania-made and Pennsylvania-themed sculptures, murals and stained-glass windows.
There are plenty of restaurants and eateries throughout the city to keep up with those teen appetites. Try some slow-smoked pork BBQ, award-winning burgers, authentic Mexican specialties, and other delicious options!
Winter is show time in HBG! Get tickets for one of the live theatre, concert, or cultural performances coming to our many arts venues this season. Then, make a day of it with some gallery or museum stops before the show and a nice dinner or drinks and dessert outing afterwards.
Check out who’s coming to Open Stage of Harrisburg, the Harrisburg Improv Theatre, the Whitaker Center, and Rose Lehrman Art Center this winter!
