Harrisburg Summer Festivals

Harrisburg Fireworks

We should come up with a new word that describes how we all feel headed into a summer holiday weekend. It’s like a magical mixture of anticipation for the celebrations and a patriotism that’s there all the time but bursts to the surface just like the fireworks that cap the holiday.

It. Is. Summer.  And we're ready for flip flop feet and flag-lined streets!

Story continues after the video.

Fourth of July Taste of Independence Food Truck Festival
Monday, July 4 -- 3 to 9 p.m.

After experimenting with some different set-ups in recent years, the City of Harrisburg will bring the Fourth of July Celebrations back to Riverfront Park with a focus on FOOD!  The region’s best food truck vendors will line the river front along with live bands and family entertainment.  Festival-goers will be treated to two fireworks displays this year. The Harrisburg Senators will cap their game with a display set from inside FNB Field on City Island, and then the City will set off its display from the tip of the Island.

Native American Pow Wow Harrisburg Labor Day

Labor Day Weekend – Harrisburg’s Centennial Kipona Celebration
September 3, 4, 5 -- 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

When Labor Day comes around, no one is really ready to let go of summer and that makes for a great party! This year marks 100 years of Harrisburg’s Kipona Festival. Kipona is an Indian name for “Sparkling Waters,” and the festival celebrates the city’s river heritage with three days of activities that range from a Native American Pow Wow to a Chili Cook-Off.  Watch canoe races or take in a karate tournament. Check out live music or cross the walking bridge to play a round of golf on City Island.

Carry the holiday vibe from the river front activities into Harrisburg’s downtown.  Have a night cap on Restaurant Row or take a family field trip to the PA State Capitol or the State Museum of Pennsylvania. Make it a true long weekend – three of them - and hang out with us in Harrisburg!
